The world seems to be headed for disaster at an ever increasing rate. Our national debt is exploding at an alarming rate, and politicians seem to want to just keep printing money to bail themselves, and their fat-cat cronies, out of trouble. Or at least till they get voted out. They encourage us to “tighten your belts” while they have long ago stopped wearing theirs as they’re so fat.
So we aren’t going to change politicians much. How can we make the future brighter for our own kids? Recycling is certainly one way. The less we devour our planet’s finite resources the longer we can live on it. However, there, in that statement, is another key. HOW we live on this planet. Do we just blindly carry on hoping (just like the politicians) that we’ll be dead before the brown stuff hits the fan? Or do we start acting responsibly towards future generations right now by living sustainably?
Take a look at alternative energy systems. Don’t bleat about ROI and how long it will take to recoup your investment. Grow up and stop whining! Living sustainably will take some sacrifice as we have destroyed the planet for too long. Think of the future, not just the now.
Look at your whole lifestyle – insulate to conserve energy, plant a garden to grow your own food, save up trips in the car till it’s worth going (in other words, don’t go to the supermarket for 1-2 items), recycle. There is so much we can do to help safeguard the future.
